About

The Central Florida Chapter was founded in 1985 and was the host chapter for the 1986 and 2005 AAAA National Conventions held in Orlando, Florida. Since 1985 the Chapter has grown in membership, been active in our community, and provided quality professional sessions for its members. Even though we do not have a local Army Aviation unit near us, our Chapter has steadily maintained its membership and it's focus on the Aviation Soldier.  Our members are current and former aviators and civilians from, or supporting, all the military services. The Central Florida Chapter is truly "joint" in nature, stretching geographically from our east coast and Patrick Air Force Base to our west coast and McDill Air Force Base.  In the Orlando area, we support the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), the Naval Air Warfare Center's Training System Division (NAWCTSD), the Marine Corps Systems Command's Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS), the USAF Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS), and the University of Central Florida's Army ROTC Unit.  In the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, we support the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM).  The Central Florida Chapter is, without a doubt, a great chapter with over 450 dedicated members serving Aviation Soldiers and the local community.

The Central FL Chapter continues to support the local group of professional organizations called the Combined Professional Associations Group (CPAG). The chapter was the lead organization in hosting a January breakfast providing a forum for the local service leaders to provide industry leaders with insights on how best to support the Warfighter in the coming year. Currently the CPAG consists of AAAA, AUSA, Navy League, Professional Military Comptrollers (ASMC), ITEA, NDIA, AFCEA, USMC Foundation, Air Force Association, Association of Old Crows (AOC), and PEO STRI.

The Central FL members are the most important aspect of the Chapter. Since our inception in 1985, our membership has grown to over 400 members. This is quite remarkable, given the fact that the Chapter is not located adjacent to a large military installation. The Chapter is very active in increasing membership, and has continually maintained Master Chapter status. The Chapter membership predominately consists of Industry (48%) and Retired Military (41%), instead of having a majority of active duty members. The Chapter members come from all four services and truly reflect the joint environment, that is abundant in Central FL.

The Central FL Chapter continues to excel in our support to the community, our membership, and to our local military soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and civilians at PEO STRI, NAWCTSD, USMARCORSYSCOM, CENTCOM, USSOCOM, and to the Air Forces' Modeling and Simulation office. This support includes education related to Army aviation, membership support of scholarship awards, and membership maintenance and growth through well planned social and  professional activities. The expanded role of AAAA with positive visibility through its support.
